About us

Corrientes Loro Park was founded by Antonio Chacón and Juana Hoays in 1987. However, the family's bird breeding activity dates back to their European ancestors, who passed on this hobby from generation to generation. The first species that they bred were yellow goldfinches (Sicalis flaveola), black-headed woodpeckers (Spinus magellanicus) and Australian parakeets (Melopsittacus undulatus).

Juana and Antonio's story begins in the late 1960s, with the sale and export of the birds they bred. Thus, Antonio and Juana created this family business and obtained successful results in captive breeding in Argentina, mainly in birds (psittacines).

The creation of this park and reservoir had great repercussions both nationally and internationally, as it was the first registered breeding site in Argentina and the largest in South America, and also raised the importance of animal conservation from the outset.

At present, the head of the establishment is Juan Manuel Chacón, one of Juana and Antonio's sons; the vice-president is Liliana Giménez, and Nahuel, Martín and José, grandsons of Juana and Antonio and sons of Juan and Liliana, are also members of the board.
